BabyGotChat hits the New York Baby Show

The NY Baby Show is an annual event held over two days at Pier 92 in Manhattan. This year it was held over the weekend of May 14 – 15, and we attended at the beginning of the first day, when crowds were low and suppliers were buzzing. I’ve been to Pier 92 before, and was wary at first as I know it is a big space but the show is perfectly designed to flow and took us about two hours to get through it all. In essence its the perfect size of not being too overwhelming, but definitely worth the effort of making a trip into the city and going, whether you are pregnant or have kids already.

There are suppliers of all kinds, from the big guys (Babies R Us, Chicco, Britax, Stokke, Bugaboo to name just a few), to smaller, independent baby and children products. If you are pregnant the show is incredibly educational as suppliers of highchairs, strollers and car seats will walk you through their products and there was even a stroller testing track, complete with grass, subway grates and even cobblestones for you to test out the strollers. I also fell in  love with the stroller sterilizing unit and wished I had brought the cess-pool that is my stroller to be disinfected.

Not only is the show educational but one can buy clothes, wraps, toys, and other baby products. Suppliers were also very generous with samples and coupons and we came away with some very handy savings.

Not only did we learn a lot we got to see some new products which we fell in love with. While we could go on and on we have withheld this down to our top 3 favorites which have all come across from the other side of the pond!

Here's our top 3 picks:

1. NoobieBox:

An ingenious idea brought over by three Dutch moms who missed receiving a pregnancy gift box full of informative and fun baby goodies, that is tradition in their native Holland. They had 1000 boxes to give out each day and their stand was incredibly popular as this gift box is full of beautiful products with brands like Philips Avent, Vita Coco, Happy Family, Babo Botanicals, Kinsa, Lansinoh, Weleda & Babyletto. The design of the box itself is beautiful enough to covet but ultimately it was the products that sell this and I've been texting and emailing my friends galore to get there hands on one of these. If you are pregnant or know someone who is and would like a FREE box just visit Noobiebox.com and use the promo code BABYGOTCHAT and get this fab box shipped to you for free.

2. Kiddylicious

When we lived in the UK these were my go-to snack. They are healthy (think sweet potato or carrot crisps), gluten free and include one veg or fruit serving per pack. Along with no added sugar and no artificial additives they also taste really good and I’m ashamed to say none ever made it to my son as I tucked into these during a few of his nap times.

3.  Jo Jo Mamam Bébé

This fabulous British brand that could only be bought from select retailers such as Silver Spoon in Bronxville has now made its way stateside and has a great online presence here. Their yellow rain boots and rain coat will make your toddler look like an adorable Paddington bear, and their shirts and shorts are fantastic quality. I am a huge fan of their clothes as it's not only excellent quality but also unique. Their embroidered shirts with dinosaurs and buses entertain even the least fashion savvy kid and I love the fact that many of their t-shirts come with buttons on the side which helps the screaming in the morning as I try to pull on a shirt over my sons head!

For Andrea, this is the second year she has visited the show and for me my maiden voyage, both of us came away learning new things and had a great time. We recommend putting this on your radar for next spring.
