New Year, New Mommy: Westchester gyms with childcare

So we’re halfway through January and I haven’t even started my New Year’s resolution yet. Though I don’t want to wish for 6 more weeks of winter come February, I wouldn’t mind delaying the start of swimsuit season. This week’s blog is about the best local gyms for moms. And what better way to kick start your January workouts than with a free class?

Join us on Saturday, January 21 at 8:30 am for a free fitness class at Total Fusion in Harrison

Total Fusion has offered us 15 spots in their Saturday Build & Burn class. This 1-hour cardio and strength class will get you energized for the rest of the day. We still have spots left, so please email me at babygotchat.contact@gmail.com to reserve your spot. Tell your friends!

Childcare at the gym

The hardest part about working out as a mom is what to do with the little darling while you try to get to the gym. Luckily, there are several local gyms with us in mind. Read on for a sampling of Westchester workout options with childcare. Even though you’ll be able to drop off your little ones and enjoy some sweat time (and maybe even a shower alone!), keep the volume low on your ear buds: they will page you for a diaper change.

New York Sports Club

Members and nonmembers alike can take advantage of their babysitting service, which is available for kids 3 months to 10 years of age. You can purchase a monthly pass or pay day-by-day. You’ll get two hours of freedom for a nominal fee. Visit their website

Equinox

The Kids Club at Equinox is available for kids 3 months and up for up to two hours. The rate is $12 for one child, $19 for two, and $25 for three, but there are also multipacks available for purchase at a lower rate. Visit their website.

Life Time Athletic

If you’re looking for a little more from your child care, Life Time in Harrison is a great one stop shop. Their Kids Academy is all inclusive with a monthly child membership (in addition to your own). They offer 2 hours of childcare for those under 2, and those 3 and older get three hours—and for those of you who consider driving to the gym enough of a workout, you get the option of leaving the facility while the kids are being looked after (and with Target less than 10 minutes away, you might never exercise again!). The cost of their membership also includes access to the kid-friendly walk-in indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a range of classes from mommy-and-me fitness and art classes for toddlers to drop off fitness, language, and play. The daycare room has access to a fenced in outdoor area, so on nice days they can enjoy the outside too. You’ll pay about $90 a month for their membership in addition to yours, but that might just be your motivation to use their services (and get a workout in for yourself) every day. Kinetic Sports Club

This gym in Pelham Manor is the only gym to offer complimentary babysitting at their Kinetic Kid’s Club, included with your membership. With a pool, an indoor soccer court, and more 70 group exercise classes per week, you’ll find lots of reasons to put on your gym clothes. Visit their website

Fenom

This family-oriented sports and fitness facility in Harrison has fitness options for kids of all ages. There are no membership fees and a bevy of sports and workout options for you to get your sweat on, including a running club, golf, private training, group classes, or just a plain old open gym. If you want to work out with your littles, there’s a class called Family Fusion where everyone can train together. The Fenom Kids Club accepts kids from 6 months to 6 years and keeps them busy with toys, games, and arts. Reserve their spot 24 hours in advance. Visit their website

Excel Martial Arts

Excel is a small fitness studio in Larchmont that offers martial arts, yoga, and fitness classes. They also host Larchmont Toddler, a gym and play space for little ones that boasts drop off service and a weekly kids’ music class called Shake, Rattle & Roll. Because of this partnership, childcare is available during many of their adult fitness classes. Visit their website

That’s it for this week! I hope this list motivates you to change out of your athleisure wear and into your athletic wear (okay, maybe just leave it on).

As always, check our website for events and weekly library programs. Email me ASAP if you’re interested in the fitness class, as only 15 can attend.
