It's back! EVERY Baby to Preschool Library Program in One Easy List

Hi everyone!

It's back and better than ever! Every library program for preschoolers in the county. In ONE. EASY. LIST. We've updated it for the year ahead, removing old listings and adding in what's new.

EVERY BABY, TODDLER, & PRESCHOOL LIBRARY PROGRAM IN ONE EASY LIST

We hate to geek out on our own creation, but ... ERMAGAWD! It's so great!

A quick user's guide!

  • Start by choosing a weekday to check out, from there the programs are listed in chronological order.

  • Click on a title to read the full description.

  • Select the town category at the bottom of each entry to see a list of all the programs in that town on the weekday chosen.

  • Be sure to double check the age range and any restrictions such as "registration required" or "open only to cardholders" of a specific town library.

  • If registration is required, head to that library's website for info on how to sign up.

  • Once you find a program you are interested in attending, check the library's website to ensure the class is meeting on the date you'd like to visit. These are regular weekly programs, but there will be days throughout the year that classes don't meet due to holidays or special events. And keep in mind some programs start later or end earlier in the season.

Some notes for Fall 2018

  • Congrats to the city of New Rochelle for dropping almost all of their "New Rochelle residents only" restrictions. Now if only Somers and Shrub Oak would do the same. Inclusivity facilitates learning.

  • The Scarsdale library is undergoing renovations and have moved their programs to the Library Loft on nearby Heathcote Avenue, Because of this, their schedule is limited in scope and is mostly restricted to Scarsdale residents. Chappaqua Library is about to begin a large renovation of their own.

  • Ardsley hasn't released its fall schedule yet, so watch this space.

Some of our favorite programs include:

  • FIESTA! With Flor Bromley: Spanish and English songs and fun. She performs all around the county, including Montrose, Croton-on-Hudson, and Peekskill.

  • Mommy & Me Yoga: Why shell out at a studio when you can try it out for free? This is happening at Shrub Oak, Armonk, North White Plains, and Bronxville.

  • New Moms & Infants Support Group: This program is about 2 hours and is baby and sibling friendly. Come to laugh, cry, and vent. Taking place in Ossining and Croton-on-Hudson.

  • Singing with Chloe: This always-in-demand children's performer sings, plays instruments, and even teaches baby sign language. Available at Port Chester, Rye, and Harrison.

  • Train Time: You don't have to stake out Barnes & Noble's sad little train table when you can head to both branches of the Harrison Library for an hour of free play. This program also takes place in Peekskill, and the one in Ossining includes planes and cars.

  • Free Play: Little Picassos: This program in Armonk gives kids two hours to make a take-home craft. Croton-on-Hudson has a similar program called Kids Arts & Crafts Lab.

  • Musical Munchkins: Teachers from the popular paid Musical Munchkins early learning program sing and dance with your kids for free! Available at Bedford and Pound Ridge.

Okay, have at it! And if you like what you see, please share it with everyone you know! In a perfect world we'd never see another post on Facebook asking "Where can I take my 6-month-old during the week?" or "Anything going on today?" or "Free stuff to do on a Wednesday morning?"

The excuse meter has been set to 0. There's bound to be a program near you for your age group on the day of your choosing. Hooray! Our ongoing gratitude goes to the BabyGotChat OG, Rosalind, who launched this endeavor back in 2015.

That's it for this week! Don't miss the FREE Hoff-Barthelson Music School open house on Friday September 7 and Saturday September 8. Click here for more info.
